Tugu Jogja harbored philosophical meaning of the spirit of resistance against the occupation and is now a landmark that is very closely with the City of Yogyakarta. There is also a tradition of embracing or kissing when the monument was out of college.

Tugu Jogja Yogyakarta City is the landmark of the most famous. This monument is located right in the middle of the intersection of Prince Street Mangkubumi, General Sudirman Street, Street AM Sangaji and Jalan Diponegoro.       Between early 1946 until late 1949, over 4-year series, Yogyakarta became the State Capital of Indonesia. At that time the leaders of the Indonesian people gathered in the city this struggle.        Between the years 1568 - 1586 in central Java island, stands Pajang Kingdom, ruled by Sultan Hadiwijaya, where during his youth, he is familiar with Jaka Tingkir. In a dispute with the Duke of Jipang named Arya Penangsang, he managed to appear as a winner without the assistance of some war commanders, among other Pemanahan Ki and biological son named Good Sutawijaya, a Hangabehi residing in the northern market and therefore he got the title: Ngabehi Pasr Loring. As a reward for Pemanahan Ki and his son, Sultan Pajang then give the gift of a plot Menataok called Earth, which is still a jungle, and then built becoming a "fief". Pajang Sesurut Kingdom, Good Sutawijaya which is also the adoptive son of Sultan Pajang, then founded the Mataram kingdom on Earth Mentaok and lifted himself as king with the title Panembahan Senopati.
